INTRO TO MY REVIEW:

I initially came upon Simply Pure Soy Candles & More while browsing around on Etsy, a totally cool place to shop. This store caught my eye because...well...they were having a sale. Yes, sadly that's all it takes to propel me to 'add to cart.' But I'm sure I'm not alone in this, right?

Simply Pure Soy Candles & More is a home-based business located in North Carolina. The owner is a WAHM who began making candles and soaps for sale about 3 years ago. In addition to candles and tarts, there is a very nice selection of bath/body products available. There are lotions and scrubs, mists and sanitizers. And there are soaps. Lots and lots of soap! Different kinds of soap and some really cute shapes and designs (right now there are some cutesy Christmas shapes - go check it out!). The soap bar that I am reviewing today is a Shea Butter soap. You can choose from over 50 scents for this soap bar, or you can have it unscented. This particular one was actually included as an extra in a wax order that I placed and was scented in Cucumber Melon. Ahhhh!

What did my shea butter bar soap look like?

My bar soap was square shaped with a raised border all around. It was a pretty light green, putting me in mind of a fresh, crisp cucumber or some juicy ripe honeydew. It was wrapped in saran wrap with the scent name on a label on one of the sides. The back was sealed with another label that contained store name and contact information along with ingredients. I was not overly impressed with the packaging, but I'm thinking this might be because it was included as an extra in my order. The website mentions that the soap will come wrapped and tied with a raffia bow.

What did my shea butter bar soap smell like?

I have always loved the Cucumber Melon scent. I can remember when it was all the rage with Bath & Body Works. I think I bought at least one of everything in that scent! This is a scent I never tire of and one I like to try from various companies. This particular bar soap smelled so incredibly good! When I unwrapped the bar, I smelled cucumber melon all over the place! Simply Pure did not skimp on fragrancing this bar. While using the bar, the scent filled the air - super fresh, clean and not too sweet. Very reminiscent of the classic Bath & Body Works version which made me one happy gal.

How did my shea butter bar soap perform?

I kept this bar at a sink where I frequently wash my hands. I loved the way this soap felt on my hands and it always rinsed very clean. I got a lot of light, fluffy well-scented lather that made my hands feel very soft and moisturized. I did not have to immediately apply lotion after use - my hands remained soft and supple. I could get a faint whiff of cucumber melon for maybe twenty minutes or so after using.

CLOSING TO MY REVIEW:

I've really enjoyed using this bar soap from Simply Pure Soy Candles & More. While the website lists a number of benefits of shea butter, it does not make any special claims about this soap - which is good. This soap was not irritating at all and it was moisturizing for my hands, which tend to be quite dry especially in the winter. A big plus was the amount of fragrance from the bar which made it a joy to use every time. Just don't expect it to linger though. In addition to the Etsy store, there is a regular website with a few more products for sale. I think Simply Pure is certainly worth checking out for yourself.
